Renée Darline Roden
Board Vice-President

RENÉE DARLINE RODEN grew up acting in Minnesota and has appeared with the Tony Award Winning Minneapolis Children’s Theatre Company (The Magic Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle, Bert and Ernie, Goodnight!), The Playwright’s Center (Planting Shelley Anne), Upright Egg Theatre Company (A Midsummer Night's Dream) and the egg theatre at Theatre Royal Bath, UK (How I Became a Pirate).

Renée penned her first play at age 10: it was a single page; had no dialogue (very cutting edge); and was written on a 1985 IBM Actionwriter 1 Typewriter. Since that debut in her parents’ basement, Renée’s plays have appeared on stage at the Tank, Triskelion Arts (The Last Hurricane), the University of Notre Dame, Open Booth Theatre Company (SHE), and The Bushwick Starr (Genna the Goldfish Solves it All).

Renée holds degrees in theology and theatre from the University of Notre Dame and a master’s in journalism from Columbia University. Her writing has appeared in The Tablet, Religion News Service, Christianity Today, Sojourners, Washington Post, America, Dappled Things, and Howlround.

Renée was the newsletter editor of Catholic Artist Connection from 2018 - 2021 and the executive director from 2021-2023. She lives at St. Francis Catholic Worker House in Chicago.
