EMILY CLAIRE SCHMITT is a Brooklyn-based playwright, screenwriter, and dramaturg focused on excavating the divine mysteries within the modern world. As a dramaturg, Emily focuses on putting playwrights in control of the stories they most want to tell. Emily's plays about Catholicism often explore sexuality, femininity, and freedom within the context of institution and tradition. These works include The Chalice (produced by Xavier Theatre and Film and The Stonewall Inn), Absolution (Xavier Theater Virtual Theater Grant), and the musical The Inconvenient Miracle (produced by The Skeleton Rep with support from The Episcopal Actors' Guild Open Stage Grant). TV Credits include: Beverly Hills Wedding and Raise a Glass to Love (The Hallmark Channel.) Emily has been a board member of Catholic Artist Connection since 2021.
