Meet: Mark J. Becks

MARK J. BECKS is an actor and musician (drummer) living in NYC. (Contact him at markjbecks@gmail.com.)

Mark moved to New York City from upstate New York to pursue acting and says, “I believe my faith enables me to have a vocation in this industry.”  He has found support in the Church through St. Genesius, patron saint of actors, and fellow artist Cole Matson at St. Malachy’s (and president of Catholic Artist Connection!). 

Mark recommends participating at St. Malachy’s (The Actor’s Chapel), Holy Cross and St. Mark the Evangelist in New York. He says that he tries to attend daily mass, read scripture and say prayers as his daily spiritual practices. 

For artists looking to move to the city, Mark recommends Gypsy Housing, a Facebook group dedicated to short-term housing for actors, and neighborhoods in the Village and Brooklyn.
