CATHOLIC ARTIST CONNECTION: What brought you to NYC, and where did you come from?

CHRISSY CARROLL: I’m a native New Yorker from Brooklyn raised by my Puerto Rican grandparents.

What is your daily spiritual practice?

I recommend listening to Relevant Radio, the God Minute, Blessed Is She, and the Hallow App. It helps me stay connected with what’s current in our faith around the world, daily prayer and Bible study.

What is your daily artistic practice?

I write daily. I use a timer to free write, and voice memos when I’m on the go. I also stay enrolled in writing classes. It keeps me accountable to myself, I’m not writing in a vacuum, I get/give feedback to my fellow writers, and it helps me foster my community. None of us makes it alone.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

I'm a Catholic convert. I converted when I married my late husband, George Carroll. We used to write together. He died on August 18, 2017. He continues to inspire me to continue to practice my faith and to continue writing.
