The Body of Christ: We All Belong

By Gary Thomas

Artist Statement

The imagery in my work is derived by intertwining lines signifying the interconnectedness of all things in Christ, particularly of all people. All the figures and faces are made up of a single continuous and meandering line. My hope is that the viewer may find himself or herself connected to others through the image. I make the image through the medium of the hand made print so that the democratic nature of the multiple print will also signify that art does not belong to selected people but rather to all. The repeated printed image shows the notion of communicating one to another. St Paul says to the letter to the Colossians something to the effect that our life is “hidden with Christ in God.” This is the primary message of my entered piece.
