Colin O’Brien

Colin O’Brien

COLIN O’BRIEN is a Benedictine oblate affiliated with St. Anselm’s Abbey in Washington, DC who brings the Benedictine principle of ora et labora (“pray and work”) to his writing, painting, and choral singing. Endowed with a vivid imagination and natural inquisitiveness, he embraces several different artforms in order to explore the ways that written words, visual images, and the sounds of speech and music combine to reach the heart. His poetry, essays, and reviews have appeared in Dappled Things and on Aleteia.org, while several of his paintings are in private collections. The Minneapolis native studied philosophy at the University of Minnesota, lived in New York City for eleven years, and currently resides in Hyattsville, MD.
