Annie Vaeth runs Paper Monastery on Etsy. Annie says: “My passion is creating art for the domestic church. I am a painter and printmaker by trade. I am a wife and mother by love. I am a Catholic by practice. I fell in love with painting monotypes when I first saw the technique in college. I love the speed required of this technique, it keeps me focused. My favorite time to paint is in the stillness of the night or the early morning before little hands have a chance to grab for the brushes.” Annie does acrylic monotypes on paper of religious subjects. You can purchase her art as posters, prints, and holy cards at her Etsy shop.

From the creator: “I’m Valerie, and I live in central Indiana. I stay home with my two young children, and my Etsy shop is my creative outlet outside of motherhood! I’m inspired by the idea of people gathering to celebrate, in a world that moves faster and faster all the time. I love the idea of people sending printed invitations as everything moves to a digital format. I had a roundabout way of getting to where I am now which included journalism school and a flourishing photography business I built then quit. I love getting to design whatever I want and play a small role in celebrations all over the world!”

Kreg Yingst received his undergraduate degree from Trinity University (San Antonio) and his Master’s degree from Easter Illinois University; both with an emphasis in painting. After seeing the block prints of the woodcut novelist’s, Lynd Ward and Frans Masereel, Kreg began to explore this different medium. His focus has shifted somewhat to printmaking in recent years, however he incorporates aspects of his painting directly onto many of the finished prints by using watercolor.

His work is very much influenced and driven by narrative, whether story, poetry, or lyrics. In 2016, Kreg finished illustrating the entire book of Psalms using the block print, an eight year project. And one year earlier he completed a cycle or prints of Mystics, Saints, and Poets, 52 in all, which became part of a prayerbook entitled, Light from Darkness: Portraits and Prayers.

These works, and others, can be seen in his Etsy shop, wORKINGaRTS, which began as an opportunity for the visual prayers and saints to fund orphanages and ministries around the world.

Kreg’s been a full time artist since 2003 after teaching art for thirteen years, and currently resides in Pensacola, FL.
