Holy Spirit Migration

Artist Statement

While reflecting on the Synod, local migratory birds greatly inspired me. Every spring the geese and the pelicans soar up along the Mississippi River. Every fall they congregate together in huge dancing swarms, then fly back down together. There's no designated leader, every member of the flock joins in the communal migration. This seems like a wonderful symbol of everyone in the Church together working to guide the Ship of St Peter. I created these violet (let's get liturgical!) geese & pelicans flying in formation with the Holy Spirit.
